Hi there! If you’re a long-term reader of my newsletter, things might look a little different going forward and that’s because we have a new virtual home on Substack!
This is something I’ve been thinking about doing for a while. You’ll still get my emails direct to your inbox, but moving platforms means there are some fun new features I can use.
If you don’t know what it is, Substack is a newsletter platform, but it’s a bit different because you can “visit” my newsletter online to read my posts, and the letters have a public archive, which means more people can find them – and you can share them with others more easily.
You’ll be able to comment on and “like” my letters now, and I can reply to your comments. Other people can recommend my newsletter, and I can recommend theirs to you!
I’ve been reading other people’s letters on here for ages (notably,
because I love her cat photos and honest writing thoughts, and also and her excellent money newsletter ). I just love the community aspect and relaxed vibe of Substack (honestly, most other platforms just frazzle me completely), and the focus on writing.I hope you enjoy it here too!
And if you’re new, hello! *waves* Here are some pictures of my feline friends, Haru and Jesper.

Some other housekeeping…
Since getting a book deal for Snowed in at the Cat Café and the second instalment Cake Off at the Cat Café, I’ve realised something has to give in terms of my time! So I’m no longer going to be sending out the writing and publishing advice newsletter.
I’m not, however, stopping the writing advice entirely! It’ll still be on my blog as normal, and updated once a month, as it always is. But writing two sets of advice just isn’t practical when I have book deadlines.
The newsletter for Author Rachel will continue, though, and I’ll write whenever I have something to share. I’ll be sending things like:
book news
chatty updates
casual writing and publishing thoughts/reflections
upcoming events
cat pictures 🐈⬛
things I’m enjoying (books, cosy video games, Kdramas, and more!)
If that sounds good to you, I hope you’ll stick around with me here on Substack. And if not, I understand.
Some updates on Snowed in at the Cat Café
Snowed in at the Cat Café is currently £0.99 on Amazon in the UK. And there is also a price drop on Amazon in the US. Right now, in the UK, the book has a bestseller flag in multiple Amazon categories (!!), is selling really well, and is sitting in the 200s in the entire UK Kindle store.
My editor and I are really hoping we can break into the top 100 ebooks soon, since the book is ranking so high. If you’ve been thinking of getting yourself a copy, now would be the perfect time!
I’ve also been out and about today chatting to some lovely booksellers about the book, and possibly signing some stock before Christmas, which is exciting.
If you have read the book, do consider leaving a star rating or a review on Amazon or Waterstones – it helps a lot!
Thanks so much for being here.
-Rachel 🐱
Welcome! Lovely to see you here.
Welcome to Substack! My cats Aragorn, Apricot and Princ say hello! :)
